Bengkulu Culinary Festival

October 27, 2018

Forgive me because have not posted anything on this blog for a long time. I have problems with the network here. But, I keep writing and traveling. Then you’ll say “Who cares?” Okay, thank you. Well, this time I'll tell you about the experience to an event (again).

Well, hi peeps! Welcome.

Not long after the Tabut festival, Bengkulu held another interesting event. Culinary Festival. Indeed, this is not a new thing for me personally, while living in search of knowledge in the city of Bandung, I have come to similar events several times. However, what makes this different is, because this was held in the city of Bengkulu which as far as I know has never held such an event like that before. Or, maybe I'm not updating the information about that.

The event itself was held on Saturday, 29th of September in an area known as Kampung China (Chinese Town). From the afternoon, traders have flocked to fill their respective spots. Some faces were very enthusiastic in welcoming prospective buyers, and some decorated their hawker carts with various themes to attract buyers. So it is not uncommon for prospective buyers to ask permission to take pictures on the seller's cart.

Not only the process of buying and selling food and beverages, the event was consist of various interesting things, such as local film screening, the availability of an art stage for those who wanted to show off or just introduce themselves and their respective art communities, until finally the fireworks show made the event more interesting.

“What time is it?” Maybe that can represent the moment at that time. Because, time is running very fast, and the visitors looked very happy and enjoyed the series of events that have been designed by the committee. Until finally one by one the food and beverages were sold out, and the series of events were carried out one by one.
Overall, in my personal opinion, there are still many things that must be improved, especially on certain aspects. Like the types of food and drinks that are presented, I mean, they just tend to be food and drinks that are usually sold on normal days. The availability of trash bins, of course because it is a culinary festival so it should be clean and tidy to make us comfort while enjoying the food. Then, the less conceptual series of events, the youth must be more creative in concepting the event.
However, as a first step, it will be an experience to make the reference to the next event even better. As a result, visitors will feel happy, and can bring more visitors from various regions. I can say that, because I saw enthusiasm and atmosphere there. Moreover, it is reinforced by the opinions of the people (The sellers and buyers) there when I interviewed.***
