January 05, 2020

There are a lot of places that present calmness and happiness, but here I try to present a good place and good food with a good weather in order to relaxing your exhausted body. It named Orbital. This place located at Dago. So, when you hear the location name, you know that I gave you a valid information based on “good place, food, and weather”.

Well, hi peeps. Welcome!

Couple weeks ago, my colleagues and I went to have a cup of coffee after spending about 9 hours at office. After listing some places to be visited, we decided to go to a place which quite near from our office. There, we had such a good time. Talked about a lot of things while enjoying the good food and drink that we have ordered. They really sell it all, not just the cozy place like the others do. They serve some delicious food, for sure. My colleagues agreed with it, we really enjoyed our food at that time. After finishing my food, I walked around to look for more information about the place.

Well, actually, Orbital is an Indonesian contemporary art gallery that Aim to broaden the current discourse surrounding contemporary art in Indonesia, Orbital Dago presents some works of Indonesian and international artists who have rarely presented in Indonesia in their exhibition program. From what I read and heard, the exhibition will include amongst other things, artist talks, performances and screenings. At that time, they held an exhibition named “Joged”. The work belongs to Aep S Rusadi. It was inspired by dangdut music, one of the most popular music genre in Indonesia. For him, the music style, rhytm also the lyric in dangdut gave him such a great spirit and inspiration for his life.

The sculpture works in his exhibition made from wasted-wood materials of various sizes which he found around. In the process, Mr Aep used a very simple tool, cutter. He always carries the cutter because it is an easy thing to be brought, and as the result, He could make the sculptures anywhere. In the narration, his works (sculptures and painting) are the representation of urban society, especially in small cities in West Java who are familiar with music especially the very popular, dangdut. Besides of course the traditional ones such as jaipongan, seni tarling, ketuk tilu and others that involve gestures and poems that representing certain groups.
It is like a bridge between Indonesia and the world beyond, presenting and positioning their works within a greater international context. They provide a platform for artistic dialogue and an avenue for which new collaborative opportunities can be explored. So, for you guys who are interested in art and food, I do recommend you to visit this one. Yes, because the place is siccc.***
