Why Literature? (General)

In my recent post, I talked about the fluctuations of Literature, but the question is, why Literature? And maybe some of us don’t know what Literature is, so I will talk about this subject more based on my point of view. I think it will be a long text, so I choose to write it in some parts like the definition, what inside, etc. And in this first part, I try to show about the general of Literature.

So, lets start from the definition of Literature
itself based on Wikipedia. Literature, most generically, is any body of written works. More restrictively, literature refers to writing considered to be an art form, or any single writing deemed to have artistic or intellectual value, often due to deploying language in ways that differ from ordinary usage.

So, that is the definition. Then I will share what are in my head about Literature. Why Literature, and what makes it cool. Cool, ya, because I think Literature is cool bro.

Literature, as the other human creatures, is a work
that involves many aspect of human life. Besides the textual potential it
processes, aspects of production in its period also influence it. Considering
the powerful effect of the production sometimes the author has to say what he
intends to tell the readers figuratively. In other words, they are trying to
hide the message. What is more, sometimes the author has to write something
contrasts to what his/her inner self tells him/her. As we know, literature is
one of the most creative and universal means to communicate the emotion,
spiritual and intellectual concern of mankind.
Literature shows peculiarity that might not showed
from the other subjects. It is because the objective of the study is something
that abstract. In the other side, literature helps us learn more about human
life. Understand how human character and emotion are influenced by environment.
Understand more about a particular of life, like social, culture, politic,
education, etc.
For me, by reading a literature, we will discover
ourselves and our world, expressing of the fact of art and imagination as a
human life manifestation with language as medium and has a positive effect on
human life (humanity), writers of literature want to expressing their ideas,
feeling, emotion or imagination in their mind so reader will feel what the
writers feel and in the last side reader can take what is the meaning of it.
Literature helps us learn more about human life. Understand how human character
and emotion are influenced by natural around.
Literature
has a beauty value and usually gives a good impression to the readers. But it
does not work to all. However, one literary work will be an interesting thing
or not depends on their feeling of sensitivity and their imagination to enjoy
the beauty of it. But, don’t worry, because as I said, Literature consists of a
lot of aspects of life to be talked. If you are not enjoying one, you can move
to another one. Till the end, you will say “Ah, it’s so me.” That is cool,
right?
